Flow meters installed at site can be found to be operating with varying degrees of errors ranging from small errors of 3% to as high as 20%. An error in flow measurement is attributable to
- The flow device
- The pipe work configuration.
In view of the above, in-situ calibration of flow measurement is required.
Also accurate flow measurement is often required for operational reasons and that this has a direct effect on efficiency measurement when using conventional method for measuring pump efficiency, the authorities often insist on periodic calibration of flow meters.
